December already?!

Seriously, how did it get to be December already? And it's December 3rd tomorrow! While I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around that concept, I'm also overjoyed because that means I'm done with school next week and can focus on nothing but wedding for two whole months!

This weekend I. Did. Nothing.  It was deliciously lazy and I had so much fun! I did pull out my yarn and try my hand at a few beanies and had so much fun! I have so much room for improvement but it was really fun to just park my behind in a chair and rip through season 3 of Glee while I crocheted!

I was crocheting a beanie for Bubbas and this popped out while I was pulling out more yarn.  I'm always ok with hidden crochet hooks that I had forgotten about!

This is what I made for myself.  It still hasn't been tied off yet because while I'm in love with the pattern I'm NOT in love with how stiff it turned out; but that's what I get for using Red Heart AND worsted yarn when the pattern specifically states not to!

Bubbas' beanie about 2/3 of the way through.  It looks like of like an odd blue mushroom but is super cute one him!

Anyone else starting their Christmas crafts? I have a feeling I'll be sending a few of these beanies as gifts!!

Success!

Our Halloween was a success! It started off with a late night decorating and pumpkin carving party.  Uly isn't a huge fan of carving pumpkins so his little brother Jake and I carved ours together.

Jake free handed his pumpkin; his is on the left.  Not bad for the first time free handing, eh? Mine is on the right....And I totally used a stencil!

Our little centurion with his Harry Potter uncle!

What a cool little soldier!

Downtown Redlands is our favorite place to trick or treat! They shut down all of downtown for a few hours and all of the shops pass out candy and the people are always dressed so cute! We saw a few knights, but no Roman Centurions! This is our second year in a row with no copy cat costumes, yay!

Now this kid.  See that sword? See his tenuous grasp on it? Yeah, that sword got left right there.  We realized it when we went to put him into the car across the street and on the OTHER side of the parking lot.  Guess who got run in her flip flops to see if it was still there? Yeah, this girl.  My calves are still sore; but call it a Halloween miracle - the sword was still there!

This is Bubba's haul! Not too bad for a 3 year old! It's since been hidden away where Mama can sneak pieces from it when he's not looking (Wedding diet? What diet?!) and for rewards when he's good.  Yup, we bribe and we are not ashamed to admit it!

Hope everyone's Halloween was as good as ours!

Halloween time!

We're a Halloween loving family, but you wouldn't know if it you just looked at Uly and I on Halloween.  Every year we swear we're going to dress up with Bubbahs and every year we leave it until the last minute and don't get costumes together in time! Next year, I swear...

One thing we have managed to do is visit our local Pumpkin Patch, which is so adorable.  It's a family owned thing and they have tons of bounce houses, a quad "train" that takes the kids around the property and a huge corn maze.  It's relatively affordable and hopefully will be a tradition for many years to come!

Tomorrow is the big deal - trick or treating.  Uly's a lucky duck and had all of his classes canceled so he gets to take Bubbahs and his little brother Jacob trick or treating downtown Redlands while I get to go to a 3 hour Biology lab.  Ah, the life of the student!

Happy Halloween, and stay safe out there!

Welcome to Lola Living Life!

Hey guys, my name is Lola and I'm the voice behind this brand spankin' new little blog! I've tried blogging before but haven't quite been able to find my niche.  I've decided that instead of trying to do a crafts only blog or a food only blog, I'm going to try my hand at a lifestyle blog...I'll try and post a little something every day and share a bit of my life with you!

A little about me...

My given, legal name is Ashlee.  When my fiance and I first started dating, he asked me if I had a nickname, which I did have - my mom has called me Lola for as long as I can remember. He loved it and to this day he calls me Lola 95% of the time - He even called me Lola while proposing! He's now trying to claim that he was asking somebody else, but I'm pretty dang sure it was MY hand he was holding - and I've got photographic evidence! That sucker's not going anywhere...Uh, I mean, I'm so glad to be marrying the man I love! :) We're planning on a summer wedding next year and I'm going to DIY-ing a lot of stuff, including - I know, I know I'm crazy - our announcements! So you'll get to share with me this crazy journey I'll be on!

We have a 3 1/2 year old son who is affectionately nicknamed Bubbas.  I started calling him that almost as soon as I brought him home from the hospital, why I have no idea but it's stuck and now, when he's feeling particularly stubborn he'll yell back at me "NO, MAMA!! I BUBBAS!" when I try and yell his name.

My fiance and I are both full-time students, he's thisclose to graduating Cal State San Bernardino and I'm over at a local community college getting my undergrad stuff out of the way before hopefully transferring to CSUSB.  We live with his parents right in the middle of San Bernardino where it is fiiiinnnnaaallllyyyy starting to cool down YAY!

That's really it for about now! I don't really know where this blog will take me, or where I even want it to take me, but we can find out together! Take this journey with me, will you?
